What We Teach

WHAT DOES PRAISE POINT TEACH?

The following are summaries of the core beliefs of Praise Point based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Holy Scriptures

We teach the Bible to be God's Word.
We teach the plenary verbal inspiration of the Bible, in that every word is breathed out by God. God breathed out His words over a period of about 1,500 years to approximately forty specially chosen and prepared men of God who wrote down God's revelation to give us the scriptures, the Word of God.
We teach the Bible to be inerrant, meaning the Bible is without error throughout, whether it is speaking historically, scientifically, or morally. We would hold to The Chicago statement on Biblical Inerrancy.
We teach the sufficiency of scripture. Scripture is sufficient in that it is the only inspired, inerrant, and therefore final authority for Christians for faith and godliness, with all other authorities being subservient to Scripture.
We teach a literal historical-grammatical hermeneutic approach to interpreting the Scriptures. This process of interpreting scripture helps us to understand the historical circumstances of both the author and his addressees, being conscious of the differing purposes and functions of the various literary forms an author uses, and comparing what he says in the portion being studied with what is said elsewhere in Scripture.

The Holy Trinity

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity (also known as the Godhead) possesses the entire essence of God. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

God the Father

We believe in God the Father. He is the first person of the Holy Trinity. He orders and brings about all things according to His plans, for His good please and His glory. His designation of Father within the Godhead identifies his role within the relationship of the Trinity as well as his relationship to all of creation. He is neither created nor begotten. He is distinct in relationship to God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

God the Son

We believe in Jesus Christ; that He is very God and man; that He became incarnate by the power of the Holy Ghost in the Virgin Mary and was born of her; that He is the Savior and Mediator of the whole human race, if they with full faith in Him accept the grace proffered in Jesus; that this Jesus suffered and died on the cross for us, was buried, arose again on the third day, ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God to intercede for us; and that He shall come again at the last day to judge the quick and the dead.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit; that He is equal in being with the Father and the Son, and that He comforts the faithful, and guides them into all truth.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

The Church

We believe in a holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Resurrection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.

How we talk about the Gospel at Praise Point

While there are many ways to present God's Gospel, there is only one exclusive & true Gospel. The Bible teaches, and we proclaim, that Jesus is the only way to experience the eternal hope of heaven.

So here's how we help people hear God's Gospel:

FORMED

God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them out of nothing to bring Him glory.

DEFORMED

Adam and Eve rebelled against God and as a result sin deformed the created order making us spiritually dead and that in our spiritual death you can do nothing to earn God's favor by our own efforts.

REFORMED

Trusting the finished work of Jesus Christ is the only way to have a restored relationship with God, so that you were once dead in sin and now have been made alive in Christ.

CONFORMED

A true disciple of Christ will strive to live in obedience to Christ demonstrating that he has been changed by the power of God.

TRANSFORMED

We possess the hope of heaven. We keep our eyes fixed on things of eternal value while looking forward to the second coming of Christ.
